Recently I entered the Fur Rondy Photo Contest which is a local contest here in Alaska. Fur Rondy is Alaska’s biggest winter festival, with various events that celebrate winter and life in the Last Frontier. I entered 5 photos into the contest and ended up winning first place in the color wildlife category. I am super thrilled to have won as it is the first contest I have entered my photography in. I set a goal to enter three contests this year and so winning the first one is a real accomplishment. The winning photo is a shot of a Great Horned Owl I photographed last summer. It was sitting on a limb and decided to fly and that’s when I pushed the shutter. I also got two honorable mentions with my work being displayed at a local mall.
